About The Paul Jones Mastering service

The first stage of mastering your project, send your mixes over I will listen to them and offer advice how to get them that extra % better before the mastering stage.

When we are agreed that the mixes are up to standard I will take on the mastering project. Within in a few days you’ll have your masters back. If you require changes, even if you notice something in the mix that you want to change I will happily do a revision.

I will provide you with masters meeting the dynamic and loudness requirements ready for streaming services. On request I will also provide you with a master that is “Loud”.

A few words on loudness.
Mastering standards have changed. Until recently masters tended to be as loud as possible in order to stand up or above other tracks “Louder is better” . As steaming platforms have developed they have come up with standard whereby music is always played back at the same perceived loudness. This standard is generally -14LUFS.. As a result loud masters are turned down and quiet ones up. Why does this matter? Making things as loud as possible has become a false economy. Creating the correct dynamic range for a track to sound optimal when played off a streaming site is paramount. My role as a mastering engineer is to nurture the tonal and dynamic balance of your music so it translates and sounds excellent on every system.
